As a practical matter - most lateral hires understand that while an AMLAW 100 law firm is not populated by soft, fuzzy, kitty-cats, the "other" kind of creature is well represented… Our clients cannot, as a matter of basic business economics, completely rid themselves of these "others" (although there are firms that claim to have a “no jerks” rule), but they can do their best to keep them out of the lateral hiring process and, - for the sake of their associate retention rates - as far away from associates as possible…
